Scholarships and Financial Aid

To enjoy concessionary MTR fares, students are required to use a valid Personalised Octopus with “Student Status”.
 
Eligibility of Applicant

The applicant must be a student conforming to the following definitions:

“Student” - any person aged between 12 and 25 who is currently enrolled on a full-time day course offered by an acceptable institution in Hong Kong.

“Full-time day course” - a day-time course which normally requires the participant to attend an acceptable local institution not less than 20 hours of academic instruction each week for 30 weeks or more in an academic year.

Application fee

  • New application: HK$90 (including HK$50 refundable Octopus deposit)
  • Activation/Renewal of "Student Status" on a Personalised Octopus: HK$20

Application Procedures and Collection of a Personalised Octopus with “Student Status”

  • Students should submit the endorsed application forms to any MTR Customer Service Centre (except Airport Express stations, Lo Wu, Lok Ma Chau, Racecourse, Disneyland Resort and Sunny Bay stations) from 1 September 2016 onwards. A receipt will be issued when students submit their application form and they can present the receipt for buying a “Temporary Student Octopus”.
  • Students should collect the Personalised Octopus with “Student Status” at the distribution counter of the designated station / Light Rail Customer Service Centre they have selected in the application form at specific time period.

 

Application for Activation / Renewal of "Student Status" on a Personalised Octopus

Students should submit the endorsed application forms to any MTR Customer Service Centre (except Airport Express stations, Lo Wu, Lok Ma Chau, Racecourse, Disneyland Resort and Sunny Bay stations) from 1 September 2016 onwards.

 

Guidelines for completing the application form 

  • Application form must be printed on A4 size white paper.
  • Each application form downloaded from the MTR website carries a unique serial number to facilitate the application for "MTR Student Travel Scheme (2016/2017)". The downloaded application form is for one applicant’s use only. Any type of copying or reproduction of the downloaded application form will not be accepted.
